Description
Here's a somewhat unusual eye-dazzler rug. The colors are very interesting and not made from the more usual dye material . The purple color is from shellfish from Guatamala. The green is rabbit grass, etc. The structure is unusual, in that it has cotton warps instead of wool. Some dealers think that cotton warps make it a later piece but the Navajo were getting cotton from the Spanish traders up from Mexico very early. It has a soft, blanket-like handle. The weaving is Very colorful and very entertaining:). It shows some wear (please see photos) but is in overall good condition. It measures : 60" x 41".
