Description

For sale is a quite unique and possibly last remaining bit of whimsical advertising. This Antique Whirl-A-Gig Motion Toy is from the Duffy - Powers Department Store in Rochester NY. The store operated from 1911-1932. This piece has a central shield shaped framework with a fish in the center. When this is tipped upside down the piece spins and lowers to the end of the spiral central shaft. You then tip it upside down again and it repeats the motion. The fish in the center also spins. Appears to be completely original. Fish has 75% of its original gold paint. The flag at the top is intact, but has 100 years of minor dicoloring. Size is 16 1/4" long x 4" wide. Flag is 3 1/2" x 2".
