    Details
    Description:
This is a nice antique advertising pocket mirror. The mirror has a celluloid backing that is decorated with the image of shoes with emphasis on the heals in the center and 12 jewels along the edge identified with the corresponding month above them. The round celluloid mirror backing has the notation "BUY SHAWMUT RUBBERS HENRY FERRIS NEUVELTON N. Y." There is also red writing pointing at the shoes. One of the shoes has a good-looking heel and obviously it is the shoe that used Shawmut rubbers while the other show has a heel falling apart which uses other brands of rubbers. The mirror on the opposite side is held in place with a medal ring and shows losses of the silver backing and as such has wear and is not fully reflective. The edge of the celluloid backing is marked as to the maker. This old piece is in what we would characterize as being in very good condition with the only issue is the minor loss of silver backing and minor cracking to the celluloid. The mirror itself is in very good condition given its age with no cracks or losses. The art work is intact with no losses and other than one crack in the celluloid and a few scratches to the surface the piece is in very good condition. The piece was made by Parisian Novelty Company of Chicago Illinois and is so marked. A great advertising piece to add to your collection.
