STANWELL DENMARK UNSMOKED ROYAL PRINCE FLAME GRAIN DANISH BILLIARD ESTATE PIPE

Description

The saying "all good things must come to an end" holds true with many things unfortunately, especially pipe makes that eventually either were sold to inferior corporations (ahem......Cadogan) or moved production to another country as Stanwell did in 2010. I have nothing against Italian pipes, I love them, but the quality with which Stanwell was known for over 60 years did not hold up upon the move. Luckily, I am fortunate to be able to offer Stanwells from the old factory in Borup Denmark with some still unsmoked like this gorgeous Royal Prince classic Danish Billiard! I believe this pipe was made in the 1990's and while a classic English shape, the Billiard can be made into a million variations and the Danish have always somehow softened the shape and added smooth lines. The bowl here is perfectly formed with thick walls, slight rounded rim and a generous chamber for its size. The transition is smooth to a round shank that is well proportioned and meets the long crisp black lucite stem with fishtail bit and gold crowned "S" logo. The finish is a gorgeous Danish orange contrast which highlights the stunning 360 degree flame grain. A lovely Stanwell from the old factory, this one awaits its first smoke and comes with sock!
