American Field Service Cap Badge. This is the insignia worn by members of the AFS on their Service Caps. The American Field Service was a group of volunteers in 1915,1916 and 1917.  A few members had been in service as early as September 1914 at the first battle of the Marne. They helped the Automobile/Ambulance Service of the French Army for a limited time, before the US fully got involved in the war.
Approximately 2000 men volunteered for the American Field Service from over 100 different American Colleges. In the Autumn of 1917, the US Army adopted them and they became the US Army Ambulance Service.
The picture shows the front and back. Each will come with clutch back fasteners. Hat is for show and not included.
Why did we go with a pin back and not pin and catch? So these cannot be mixed up and mistaken for original items. So they can be attached and removed from uniforms without making any large holes and are easy to adjust.
This insignia is a great looking
replica
pin. Its copied from an original piece and from the front and nobody will see the pin back.
When you buy this item be assured you will receive a great item.
